Let it SNOW!!!!

Well...I got my wish!! We have snow...10 inches to be exact!! Brian didn't have to go to work today, so we've had alot of fun! Our one gripe (and it's a small one) was that we didn't get to build a snowman...it was just too powdery. We're hoping that tomorrow it will be a little wetter and we'll try again. Our day has been filled with frostbitten noses, hot chocolate, snowball fights and snow cream. It's been so much fun! Here are some pictures.

Here's Addie Grace showing how deep it is!!

She was so excited to make a snow angel!! Hmmm...something's not quite right...

Take two...

All morning Sawyer had been going to the door saying, "Snow! Go snow!!" When we finally took him out (after we spent what felt like 4 hours bundling everyone up), he was so excited!!

He loved standing on the edge of the porch and playing in it...

When he finally decided to make a run for it and chase Addie Grace, he was VERY disappointed to learn that his excessive bundling and the 10 inches of snow made it nearly impossible for him to walk...then he was just plain mad...poor guy!!

He still loved being out in it, as long as we didn't put him down!!

Tonight they cancelled church so we are just staying in and staying warm!! We're looking forward to tomorrow so that we can do it all over again!!

dance...

Just thought I'd post some of Addie Grace's dance pictures that were taken right before Christmas. I'm supposed to be downstairs having game night, but I slipped upstairs for a minute to throw in a load of laundry. I accidentally ended up here at the computer! I don't have time to post more...I might get caught!!
Have a great weekend! We are hiding out at home waiting for the snow to come...up to 3 inches SUPPOSEDLY!! We'll see! Maybe I'll have some fun pictures to post tomorrow! I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway!!

Exhausted!

On Christmas Eve we spent the afternoon/evening with our friends the Hayes's. We came home, set out food for Santa, read the Night Before Christmas, said goodbye to Wink (our elf on the shelf), threw the squirts in the bed, set up for Santa, packed, got a few hours of sleep, did Christmas at 7 and were on the road by 10.
We went to South Pittsburgh, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Nashville. We left Nashville on Wednesday morning and got home around 3:00, and at 6:30, we had a New Year's Eve party here at our house! Brilliant huh???
Yesterday was kind of a blur, but we (except for Brian) went to bed really early last night, so we are all able to function again!
Even though it was very tiring, we had a great time with our families, and I really am sad that it is over.
We had such a good time visiting with everyone! We love having the cousins together and just getting to watch them with their grandparents and great-grandmothers! It really is such a special time for everyone and we love that we all get to be together! Here are some pictures of South Pittsburgh, Chattanooga, and Knoxville...

On the way to my parents we stopped at Opryland to see the How the Grinch Stole Christmas in ice! It was so neat! Addie Grace LOVED the slide made out of ice. It was so much fun! (They made us wear their coats...I HAVE NOT started making my whole family dress alike, although, I'm sure a few of you would not be suprised if I did!!)
On Monday, Mom and the kids did their Christmas baking...don't they look cute?? Mom's apron says, 'Nana and her Elves' in case you can't read it.
We had a great time playing cards, eating and just hanging out!

We have a couple of traditions in my family...one is that every year (for the last 15 years or so) we sing the Twelve Days of Christmas. Everybody draws a number and you have to stand up and sing (and possibly act out) your part. Here are some pictures of my ridiculously talented family!

Our other tradition is that the guys and grandkids have a paper-wad fight with the wrapping paper scraps. The whole time the fight is going on, my mom is running around yelling for everyone to stop "someone is going to get hurt!!!!". I took a few pictures and was about to get up and take some more, but as mom forshadowed...I got pegged in the face (BY MY FATHER!!!) so I decided I'd just try to stay out of the line of fire. Addie Grace and Sawyer were happy to get in on the fun this year!

Hope that your Christmas was just as special! I'm off to take my Christmas decorations down...grrr!!!

Merry Christmas...(Part 1)

It really has been such an incredible Christmas! Although it has been exhausting, I'm a little sad that it is over.
We travelled to South Pittsburgh, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville to celebrate with all of our families...it's been crazy! We are exhausted and our house now looks like Toys-R-Us exploded inside of it!
Sawyer got a train table for Christmas and we really haven't seen him much since then! I think he has set up residence in our play room. We'll just throw a sandwich and a sippy cup of milk in every few days and he should be fine!
Here is a picture of him from when we got home Wednesday. He brought me his engineer hat and bandana to put on him while he played with his table. He loves it!

Here are some pictures leading up to Christmas morning.

Here are some more pictures of the zoo. They had an exhibit on trains which Sawyer thought was great!

Next post...Christmas on the road!
