blessed...

I love this picture of Sawyer and Addie Grace...I only had a minute to get a good shot before church Sunday morning. This is definitely NOT what I had in mind, but I love it anyway!! I kept telling them to smile and they kept looking at each other and couldn't quit giggling...

SMILE!!!

After a year of refusing to smile when I took his picture (unless HE got the notion), Sawyer has FINALLY decided to cooperate with me!! I can now just ask him to smile for me and he will!! I realize most of you are saying, "so what?? My kid does that all the time!", but for my rotten baby boy this is a HUGE feat!!! I never thought I'd get to the day!!
I have definitely taken advantage over the last week!!!

Zowee!!

Well, my husband has been chomping at the bit to go to the Children's Museum. Right now, they have an exhibit on Comic Book Heroes and he was sooo excited to take Sawyer and Addie Grace (read: he was so excited to have two kids to pretend that THEY were the reason we were spending nine hours in the Children's Museum!!!) I must admit it was really neat...here are some pictures...
Sawyer doing his best Spiderman impression...
He was impressed by Iceman(I think that was his name anyway!)
screaming for one of the heroes to come and save him from an evil villain...
Addie Grace and the batmobile...cool huh??

We also hung out alot in the dinosaur exhibit...

Addie Grace digging for bones...

I love this next picture of him...I have a few more of basically the same thing, just different dinosaurs...he was truly in awe of them...he would just get on his tippy-toes and stand and stare forever...

And lastly, another really cool thing that they have going on right now is that they are building a lego exhibit. They have a master lego builder there (who knew that there was such a thing?!?) working on the exhibit, and you can help build a specific piece for him to use...like they need a zillion "bricks" (okay, maybe not a zillion), and that's what we built...

Working on her brick...

giving it to the master builder...

It was a really fun day! If you've never been to our museum, it is DEFINITELY worth the trip to Indy to see it!!

Open House

Last Thursday night we had Addie Grace's open house at preschool. She gets so excited to lead us around. She wanted to show us EVERYTHING! Where she has music class, where she watches a movie sometimes after her nap, she was so disappointed that the lights weren't on to show us where she has chapel each morning...nevermind that it is the same auditorium that we sit in each Sunday morning and each Wednesday night!!! We went along and pretended to be oh-so impressed with all of these "new" sights!!

Addie Grace with her teacher Miss Linda

Below is her picture with one of her little friends. As soon as they were done and ran off, Sawyer walked over to the same spot, leaned against the wall and smiled at me and just waited for me to take his picture, which of course I was happy to oblige...unfortunately it turned out blurry, and before I could get another one, the girls ran over to get their picture made with him. Oh well.

Our school year is going great and we are loving every minute of it!! We go on our first field trip Thursday (to the apple orchard), and Addie Grace can't wait...she thinks she's big stuff!!

while the cat's away...

Yeah, I know. Four posts in one night. What in the world?!?
I felt like I was neglecting poor Sawyer tonight, so here's a post just for him.

Sawyer LOVES when Addie Grace is at home because he wants to play with her constantly (poor Addie Grace!), HOWEVER, he also loves it when she's gone to preschool. Why you ask?? Because he gets all of HER things that she is ALWAYS taking from him when she's at home!!

Here he is with one of her beloved webkinz and wearing her pink poodle house shoes!! He wore these the WHOLE day, by the way! Do you think he looks happy??

He's so funny!! I love that baby boy!!

Here he is the same day showing off his basketball skills...(just to redeem himself from the pink, fuzzy, poodle slippers)

And lastly, this is a daily occurence in our home that I LOVE! Sawyer has always been a very snuggly baby. He LOVES to sit in my lap and cover up and just sit. I love it. Although he won't stay long, he constantly grabs this blanket and tries to pull it down to give to me to put him in my lap and cover him up...

unfortunately, the blanket doesn't always want to cooperate with him!!

slipping on our dancing shoes...

Well, Addie Grace started dance again. They don't meet over the summer, so Friday was her first class. She is VERY excited about it!! We're hoping that eventually she's going to be more coordinated than her mother! She's not that far away right now!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! Here are some pictures...

She absolutely loves it, and I am sooo glad!! It is so much fun watching her!!

The Next Mia Hamm...

Well, since Aunt Jill has already posted about Addie Grace's second soccer game, I figured I'd better get on it and post about her first one. The picture on top is of her whole team. Aren't they too cute??? They are so much fun to watch!!
She had her first game a couple of weeks ago. She did great! By great, I mean she didn't sit in the middle of the field the whole time and pick "salad" (anything green) as she calls it. I saw her fleetingly pick a couple of things once or twice, but that's much better than I thought she'd do!!
She is not very aggressive, but with each passing game (we've had 3 now), she goes after the ball more and more.
Anyway, here are some pictures.
Look at that determination on her face!!!

Uh-oh...not looking so confident anymore!!

A well-earned gatorade after a long, hard game!!

They don't keep score, so I can't tell you how the game turned out exactly, but they pretty much smoked us!! Oh well, we had fun. That's what counts right??

A little late...

For Labor day we took advantage of the long weekend and went to Knoxville to visit Brian's parents. We hung out outside alot. The kids played in the pool and we played croquet (for my first time in probably 20 years). I grudgingly admit that Larry and Peggy beat us...in every possible match-up. Me against her? Yep. Larry against Brian? Yep. Old Fogeys against the Spring Chicks?? Yep. Yep. Yep. Oh well, it IS in fact an old person game, so what do you expect?? Seriously, it was alot of fun, and I'm a fan. I think that might be on my Christmas list.
Anyway, here are some shots of our weekend.
Sawyer and Addie Grace both really liked playing too...

Addie Grace chasing Daddy...

Sawyer letting us know that he wasn't quite finished in the pool yet...

Grandaddy, Brian and Addie Grace playing monkey in the middle...one of Addie Grace's favorite games...

And here's Sawyer and Addie Grace with Gram and Grandaddy before we left...don't you love Larry's little hat??

Our Soccer Prodigy...

Sawyer has apparently been paying attention at Addie Grace's soccer practices...check out the video of him dribbling that ball!! (You might want to turn your volume down so that I don't burst your eardrums!!)

Monkey See, Monkey Do...

Sawyer is in that stage where he tries to do everything that he sees someone else doing.

Here are a few recent examples...

doing what he ALWAYS sees mommy doing...

wanting to be like his big sister...

and lastly...his Daddy!!!
