Destin

Well, it's only May and all of our vacations are already over for the year...that kind of stinks, huh? I am, however, happy to be at home and be surrounded by my own stuff, it'll be nice to just be for a little while.
We had a great time in Destin. We went with Brian's family, and it was a really good trip. The best part of the trip was finding out that Brian was not going to be laid off from his job on Thursday while we were there. We found out a couple of weeks ago that there was a STRONG possibility that he would be, as one of Merck's drugs was blocked by the FDA. Merck's plan was to lay off Brian's whole division in addition to the bottom 10% of all reps!!! YUCK. Well, thank God, Brian was ranked high enough that he was slid into someone else's slot. We are soooo thankful to still be employed and we know that alot of our family are sighing in relief that we aren't going to have to move a trailer into their backyards!! One quick story, we were at Seaside for the day when Brian had his phone call to find out if he was let go or not. He was in the car on the phone and Addie Grace, Sawyer and I were sitting at a table in front of the car waiting for the verdict. I had told him as soon as his boss told him to give me the thumbs up or thumbs down so that I wouldn't have to wait the whole conversation to find out...anyway, he gave me the thumbs up and so I was really excited and Addie Grace apparently picked up on what this meant, and as a man was passing by our table, smiling at the kids, Addie Grace yelled (in her most dramatic voice), "I CANNOT BELIEVE MY DADDY HAS A JOB!!!"...like he's been out of work for the last 5 years or something...she's such a goof!! The man just kind of looked at us curiously and kept walking.
Anyway, on with the show...here are some pictures of our trip...

St. Jude's Trike-A-Thon

Today was Addie Grace's trike-a-thon at preschool. Addie Grace has been really excited about it. We had to make signs inviting everyone to the World's trike-a-thon (as she calls it) and she wanted to practice her laps pretty much every day.
Here are some pictures...

Here she is practicing...on this afternoon a lady was walking by and stopped and said hi to her as she was riding. Addie Grace stopped her tricycle, got a serious look on her face, dinged her bell at the lady twice and then rode off...she's so silly...apparently that is the proper greeting while riding non-motorized vehicles...
and the event...
oops...she got into a fender bender with Raven (she drives like her Daddy)

The kids were so funny...there was one of those little plastic gas pumps set up beside the track, and they all had to keep stopping to fill up...here's Addie Grace waiting patiently in line...
At one point there were two kids on the track and everyone else was in line...they weren't hardly saying a word to each other...just standing and waiting, then they would fill up, and they were off!!

It was really fun...a great cause and a great day!!!

Family Reunion...

We spent our weekend in Verona, Missouri at the McDonald family reunion. We had a really good time (except for the 16ish hours spent in the car between Friday and Sunday). Brian saw family that he hasn't seen in about 28 years, so it was really neat.
The reunion was at Brian's Uncle Rick's house. His place is a kid's dream (well, a kid without their mom chaperoning). He had a pond, good climbing trees, a golfcart to get around in, a motorized scooter, all kinds of fun stuff. It made me want to get out of my crazy neighborhood and get back into some wide open spaces!
Here are some pictures of our trip...

Sawyer just being cute...

I always try to get a cute picture of Jack and Sawyer together, however, they are verrry elusive, so here's little Jack. I don't know if you can see it, but he got bitten by a dog on the right side of his face...poor guy!

Hope your weekend was great as well!!!
